Over the course of the last year, we’ve seen a drastic increase in your support of our efforts here at the store. Input from the community into our free recycling service has nearly tripled in 2011. While most of our inventory comes from our traditional surplussing methods, people have always been kind enough to donate and trade some really cool stuff too. This year we found ourselves finally able to attain the goal of creating a nonprofit that can not only facilitate our long list of workshops and classes, but also use your donations of electronics recycling and other goods to make the cost of those workshops more inexpensive or even free. Feel free to check out Reuseum Educational’s website, http://educate.reuseum.org
Next, but certainly not least is another community driven endeavor, it has been a long time in the making, but you can now say hello to the Treasure Valley’s first hackerspace, Open Lab Idaho. The members have been grinding though all of the things we need to accomplish in order to make our laboratory dreams come true, we are proud to announce the first general meeting, and charter of the founding membership at the Reuseum on January 14th, 2012. If you are interesting in sharing your skills and meeting other makers and builders of things, come down and lets make it happen!

Our weekly haul has yielded some interesting items of note that people have been asking about. If you’ve been wanting a digital scale, more electronics tools, or a new selection of dials and gauges, here is some proof that we’ve been listening!

The Obtainium is basically a gold mine for engineers in the Treasure Valley, and since its birth, they have been a stalwart supporter of the Reuseum, providing literally tons of cool stuff for our populace. Their inventory of over 1,300 items spans horizons that can provide a tremendous resource for people and businesses who are looking for quality and respect of the product.
To illuminate the partnership between our two businesses, Obtainium is offering the residents of the area the opportunity to pick up purchases from their online auctions here at the Reuseum, meaning that if you see something that you or your business find useful, you won’t have to pay the freight cost for it, and will be able to pick it up within 24 hours. We hope that both the Obtainium and Reuseum can continue to earn your support, and we constantly work for this goal by seeking ways to provide better service to our community.
You can visit the Obtainium’s Ebay store, or visit www.obtainium.biz for more information about them, and what they already do for the community.
