I recently stumbled on this great TED presentation about building a network of open source manufacturing tools called Open Source Ecology. Their online community is off to a great start and I just registered and will see what I can do to help and contribute. I think the concept is wonderful because it illustrates a how a culture like the open source DIY movement can produce a self sustaining system of creation. It’s called closed loop manufacturing and as I look around at the shop here, I see what we might be able to do with the things we have here. Our impact as a community can be very powerful as we strive to foster a culture of consumers that are inherently producers as well. This will always be our duty and service here at the Reuseum, and we hope that there is some way that we can aid you in your daily education, projects, and exploits. Enjoy the video! -Dave

Want to build the ultimate anything? You need some T-slot rail. It’s like Legos for big kids. There are many examples of great uses for this stuff, but the only problem is that its usually a bit on the spendy side. Fear not my loyal community, for we have dissambled lots of machines and rendered the hardware in pristine condition. This stock, combined with our millable HDPE plastic is the stuff of an inventor’s dreams. Hence, my fellow makers and tinkers alike, to bliss the T-slot will take us.
We figured that everyone would be out having a fun time celebrating the holiday with their friends and family, so we thought it would be fun to do the same. See you on Monday!
This projector would be great for anyone needing a reasonably priced mobile projection. It comes with a rolling luggage case and control breakout for various video outputs. Max resolution is 1024×768 and the lamp only has 666 hours on it (rock on). This projector is screaming to be picked up by someone who wants to use it. It has also been listed in our online store in case you are an Idaho local and can’t come by and pick it up today.
File under, “Yes we have that too!” This diagnostic and alignment machine would be a great addition to any local automotive shop that wants to expand their services. This piece is just one in a plethora of new inventory such as large tools, laboratory cabinets, and Sun Microsystems servers to name a few. If you think that this piece is right for you, you can now purchase it directly from our site and make arrangements to pick it up locally (sorry to all of our friends not in Idaho, but we might have some cool stuff for you too…)
UPDATE: We have decided with Boise Schools to hold individual sessions for our Recycled Robotics Class that was scheduled for May 5th and 12th at Hillside Junior High. Anyone interested in making a small light seeking robot can register their time with David at info@reuseum.com. We would also be more than happy to hold multiple sessions and make this one of our summer workshops. We hope to see you soon!
We’ve been given the great opportunity to teach a workshop for Boise School District’s community education. We will be making light seeking robots from recycled parts and handmade circuitry produced here at the Reuseum. The hands on lesson involves lots of fun and educational ideas that can be used on other projects and will give participants insight into being creative with things that we might commonly throw away, and reuse them for something creative and educational (shhh, don’t tell the kids…)
This is going to be a fun class, don’t miss out!
