Last Tuesday, we opened up the shop after hours to host a monthly meeting for the ISRA, a ham radio group based here in the Treasure Valley. They collected at the shop to hear a presentation on our efforts with open source hardware, our various resources, and the workshops and classes we hold here at the shop. The real insight I had while with this great bunch, is that they embodied the whole idea of modern open source and the process of using old equipment for making new things since tubes were state of the art. In a sense, they are pioneers for the progress of DIY today. They never lost the factor of DIY being a common sense way of life and a source for real innovation for them, an increasingly rare idea in a world full of new high technology that is more commonly thrown away in lieu of repair. After the meeting I felt extremely honored to have been able to present some ideas that we’ve been working on, and converse with them about what projects they took on when they were first getting started in their tinkerings and tech exploits.
As we continue to work to provide a resource for our community we are most honored to host meetings for various groups and organizations that bear an interest for the common goals we share at the Reuseum. If you would like to hold an event or meeting, please let us know and we’d love to see how we can accommodate you.
Many thanks to the great members of the ISRA and their example and inspiration.

You never know when you may need it, but having a surplussed neck brace available in a short time to make those “soft tissue injuries” really stand out in any difficult environment.

We just added a great selection of thermocouples to go with our already existing supply of temperature controllers and PID’s. Everything from new probes, wire, plugs and test equipment has been brought in, so come down and see what we’ve got, we might just have that last piece you need for your DIY project.
