From “The Adventtures of Bigelow Brook Farm” comes a great idea for making a very cool homemade plastic extruder.
Think about being able to process milk bottles into the feedstock for a 3D printer and becoming your own home recycler extraordinaire!
Links of the prototype and the continued development are pretty cool too!
Many thanks the the RepRap community for the references to the work, now let’s make some!
On Saturday the 22nd of January, we invited all of the Bigs and Littles from Brothers Big Sisters to come down and try their hand at making some robots out of some convenient recyclable tech that we had laying around the shop. It was a blast showing everyone off the seemingly odd and obscure technology that our clientele constantly incorporate into their projects, both practical and artistic. Needing to explain what a pager does was even more fun. Using pagers and coin cell batteries, the kids used all of the bits and pieces inside the pagers to build their “gobots” and each one came out looking like none other. Getting to see young people realize their inherent creativity is very special and important to us, and that is why we here at the Reuseum do not stop at opening our doors simply as a store. We have plenty more kits for gobots here at the store if you are in the mood for a cool recycling project they are inexpensive.
Here is a gallery of all the cool bots that the kids made;
