Obtainium offers local pickup option at the Reuseum

The Obtainium is basically a  gold mine for engineers in the Treasure Valley, and since its  birth, they have been a stalwart supporter of the Reuseum, providing literally tons of cool stuff for our populace.  Their inventory of over 1,300 items spans horizons that can provide a tremendous resource for people and businesses who are looking for quality and respect of the product.

To illuminate the partnership between our two businesses, Obtainium is offering the residents of the area the opportunity to pick up purchases from their online auctions here at the Reuseum, meaning that if you see something that you or your business find useful, you won’t have to pay the freight cost for it, and will be able to pick it up within 24 hours.  We hope that both the Obtainium and Reuseum can continue to earn your support, and we constantly work for this goal by seeking ways to provide better service to our community.

You can visit the Obtainium’s Ebay store, or visit www.obtainium.biz for more information about them, and what they already do for the community.

A Place for Curious Minds

This weekend I was asked to open the shop a little early on Saturday so that a group of teachers could come in and see the store.  I believe that an opportunity like this to be able to expose educators to the resource and style of our store was a great chance to get the word out to great people.  It happened so quickly, though, that I don’t know if I really got to avail some of the cool things we do here and are available to people on an everyday basis.  Here people have the option to walk through the store and find just about anything they can use for teaching and making cool things. I love walking people through when they say that they want a bot kit, or energy seed kit, and telling them what everything is, or used to be, and what it will be once they’ve arranged all of the parts and put them together.  Hopefully that is what can be passed on  to students for their classes and education.  So far there are more than a few things that have been made for workshops here, and more are being thought of every day to build this year. If you have a group of people, or students, or are simply a curious individual in search of a project, come down and we would more more than happy to help you out. I’m sure that putting our ideas together can make new ideas that no one had thought of before.  This way, we can have the chance to show you what a store like the Reuseum can bring to its community.

Regards,

Dave

Galileo Probe Simulator

We’ve added another piece to our museum display in the store.  Its a Galileo mission probe simulator.  It’s just another testament to how we feel about cool relics that pioneered the technology we have today.  It is part of a constant influx of new stuff, most of which besides the probe simulator or actually for sale.  Every week we are getting in more cool stuff we know will be useful to someone and hope that you will come down and check out the store.  We are also always looking for cool stuff too, so if you are an individual or business that has some parts or equipment that you think we may like, don’t hesitate to let us know, and we will be more than happy to take if off your hands.

Spring Markdowns

In the spirit of spring cleaning, and in blatant disregard for rodents dictating seasonal scheduling, we are streamlining our inventory here at the shop.  To augment the normally killer deal and continue to earn your support, we are establishing our Clearance rack where some of the lingering gems can go to avail your willingness to take them home.  Starting today, prepare to find a certain shelf containing that deal you can’t leave behind…some items today include CCD camera’s with motor control, cargo cases, light bulb mounts, work clothes, respiration systems, rackmount scientific process equipment and way more.  Come see for yourself!

DIY Stompbox Workshop, March 20th 2010

DSC00044
Participants will be making a DIY guitar pedal completely from scratch using salvaged and excess parts. We are calling our project the Freq Duo. It is a dual voicing filter that is not widely available on the consumer market and has a ton of possible mods and personalization that can be done to it. Everyone will have the opportunity to pick out features of their pedal that will separate it from all others being built. If you have ever wanted to dabble in making your own guitar effects, this might be a great workshop to start with. We will cover steps for home creation of electronics from etching a circuit to customizing your pedal’s sound and function.

The event is FREE for anyone who just wants to spectate,
Kits for the pedals are $45
Workshop begins at 4PM, Build time ranges from 3-5 hours.
Dave will have some tamales and other random snacks, if you’d like you can bring anything else you like.

Feel free to RSVP on our Facebook fan page or via the contact form here on our website.
